Behind the Scenes

This week on Behind the Scenes, we’re chatting with Aryn Gatto, Senior Operations Manager, Canada at Florence. Aryn has spent more than ten years working with innovative technology companies across the healthcare ecosystem.

Who are you, and what do you do at Florence?

My name’s Aryn, and I’m the Senior Operations Manager on the Florence Canada team. I lead our operational efforts here in Canada. I’m responsible for building scalable processes that enable us to onboard healthcare professionals, and help healthcare organizations leverage the power of the Florence platform.

I lead a small but mighty team that makes sure each and every one of our healthcare professionals is vetted and ready to work, and that our healthcare organizations are able to fill their open shifts with people they trust.

What made you want to join Florence?

When I first learned about Florence, I was drawn to the mission and the opportunity to build as one of the early team members in Canada. Getting to be part of a company focused on tackling one of the most pressing challenges facing Canadian healthcare today – the healthcare staffing gap – is so exciting, as is the opportunity to launch this new market.

I wanted to make an impact, and I can do so everyday here at Florence.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

The best advice I’ve received, and something I go back to often, is to embrace progress over perfection. As a bit of a recovering perfectionist, I find this to be helpful advice both professionally and in life. It’s important to strive to do our best, but don’t let “perfect’ be the enemy of “good”. Things don’t have to be perfect for us to succeed, improve, or move the dial!

What’s your favourite thing about working at Florence?

I don’t think I could choose just one, but if I had to choose (two), I’d say the people and the opportunity to build Florence’s Canadian presence. The people I get to work with everyday are smart, thoughtful, innovative, and fun. It is such an exciting time to get involved.

What’s the biggest challenge Florence is facing at the moment? ‍

As a growing company that recently launched in Canada, I think our biggest challenge is balancing the needs and differences across our various markets around the world.

What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise us?

I danced competitively throughout my childhood, and can still breakout some dance moves and walk on my hands (on a good day)!

What piece of advice would you give to someone thinking about joining Florence? ‍

We’re a startup, so if you like rolling up your sleeves, working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and have a growth mindset, this is the place for you.

I’d also suggest jumping in with both feet. Florence is a great organization with ample opportunities to learn, build, and grow.

Where do you see Florence in five years?

We’ll be working with thousands of healthcare organizations across Canada (and beyond) to help them meeting their staffing needs. We’ll continue to have a local approach with a global impact, and continue to put people at the centre of what we do.
