Behind the Scenes

This week on Behind the Scenes, we’re chatting with Rahim Velji, Head of Partnerships, Canada at Florence. Rahim has a background in partnerships and healthcare technology, and most importantly, he's focused on building meaningful connections within the healthcare industry.

Who are you, and what do you do at Florence?

I’m Rahim and I’m the Head of Partnerships for Florence Canada.

Day-to-day, I establish relationships with healthcare organizations throughout Canada and help them ensure they’re fully staffed. If the organization is in need of temporary staff, I get them setup with Florence so they can tap into our network of healthcare professionals, and better engage their existing staff. All with the end goal of providing the best possible care to their residents.

What made you want to join Florence?

I’ve been working in the healthcare technology space for the past few years, and when I came across Florence, I was thoroughly impressed by their innovative and user-friendly technology. The ease of use of Florence’s tech is something that can really help make meaningful, positive change in the healthcare industry, and I wanted to align myself with a company looking to make a difference in people’s lives.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

The most valuable advice I’ve ever received is to never give up. While failure may be inevitable, each setback can serve as a valuable lesson and provide personal growth. If you work hard enough and persevere, success will find you!

What’s your favourite thing about working at Florence?

Being an early member of the Florence team here in Toronto means that we move quickly and really get to feel the impact of our work on a daily basis. I love being able to meaningfully contribute to the growth of this business and put strategies and systems in place that will help us scale over time.

What’s the biggest challenge Florence is facing at the moment? ‍

The biggest challenge we are up against is proving that we are able to help end the staffing crisis and reduce staffing costs. There’s been bad actors in the industry that’ve made promises of significant cost savings for organizations, only to subsequently raise prices and betray the trust of many individuals. I’m excited to show them how Florence is different.

What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise us?

In the warmer months, I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and fishing.

What piece of advice would you give to someone thinking about joining Florence? ‍

Florence encourages employees to embrace their authentic selves and be creative. Prepare to actively participate in the journey to solve the healthcare staffing crisis!

Where do you see Florence in five years?

Over the course of the next five years, I envision Florence becoming widely adopted throughout Canada, establishing itself as a renowned brand that organizations rely on as a trusted partner to ensure optimal staffing levels. By leveraging Florence's technology, organizations will streamline their staffing processes, eliminating the need for traditional phone-based methods and ultimately saving valuable time and money.
